Update on Big John

Some of you, I’m sure, were unaware that John had a minor stroke this past Tuesday night. He was in the hospital for three days and I just got him home yesterday afternoon. He is doing much better and I expect that he will have a full recovery. The left side of his body was affected as well as his speech. The speech is about back to normal, but he is still listing to the left when he tries to walk without his walker. And, for those of you know REALLY know John, you know that he is a stubborn man and mostly refuses to use the walker because it makes him feel old and like an invalid. His doctor was adamant about his quitting smoking and, for once, John agrees! So January 1 is our “quit date”. Both of us! This was a real wake up call to both of us that we need to make some lifestyle changes. And we are going to do just that!
